Please send your child to school dressed appropriately for outside play. Mittens, hats, scarves, even winter boots and snow pants might be necessary. Students in kindergarten thru eighth grade will be outside in the morning before school and at lunchtime. The students will be inside during these times only if the temperature is below 10° F or below 0° F wind chill.
In the event of an emergency school closing, the district will post the announcement on the district webpage. The closing will also be announced on WGN 720 AM, WBBM 780 AM, CBS 2 Chicago, NBC 5 Chicago, ABC 7 Chicago, WGN, Fox 32 Chicago, and CLTV. Please check back on this page for any updates.
This summer we needed to upgrade our student information system. Teachers, secretaries, and administrators are still becoming familiar with the new program. As soon as we have worked out the kinks and are comfortable that the information that is posted is accurate, we will send home directions on how to access grades online. Communication is very important to us so if at any time you are concerned with your child’s grades, please contact their teacher(s).
North Prairie Jr. High students, Alana Cleveland, Jacob Unze, Reagan Hook, Damarquis Henry, Cierra Moore, and Matthew Bestler, joined forces with other middle and high school students in Lake County in the fight against bullying. At the Lead the Change! Summit sponsored by the Lake County After School Coalition, students worked to develop activities and strategies to promote positive actions and put an end to bullying in our schools.
In an effort to reduce spam to our email server, we do not have one location with everyone’s email address on it. Email addresses of our staff members are as follows: first letter of first name, last email@example.com. For example John Smith’s email address would be firstname.lastname@example.org. To locate a teacher’s name and or their position, select the school from the top menu, click on staff for the respective school. Within the listing of staff members you will see Westfield or NP Staff Listing By Position.
Thank you for being patient as we continue to get better and more efficient at pick up and drop off times. Yesterday was certainly better than the first day as there was less wait time and no cars waiting on 9th street to pull in. Safety continues to be number one on our minds. Just a couple of reminders: Please try to limit the use of 6th street. This is the road that we are encouraging our walkers and bikers to take. Also, please encourage your children to wait in areas that are designated and follow directions in order to get to your car safely. We do not want them wandering through the cars where motorist may not see them. Again, we appreciate all of your help in making our parking lot and roadways safe for kids.
