K-3 Special Education Teacher
M.S. Ed., Reading Specialist
Hi! My name is Janice Gibbons, and I am thrilled to begin teaching at Westfield School as the special education teacher for kindergarten through 3rd grade. During my 18 years as a special education teacher, I have had the privilege of teaching students in grades kindergarten through high school. I received my master's degree in special education and certification as a reading specialist at Northern Illinois University. I live in McHenry with my husband, daugther and 2 rescue dogs. We love to go to museums, zoos, art shows, movies and national parks.
We are going to have a great year filled with lots and learning and fun! Please see the links for classroom lessons and assignments. Homework will be designed to provide your child with additional practice on lessons covered during school. Students will have homework every day but Friday. Please have your child check his/her take home folder with you each day for homework and important notes. If your child experiences difficulty with any homework assignment, please let me know. The purpose of homework is to reinforce skills, not frustrate students:)
Please feel free to contact me at 847-872-5438 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be working hard during the day on our learning. But I will return your phone calls, notes and emails as soon as I can each day.
