Student Phase in Process Update - 2-23-2021

February 23, 2021

Families,

Last night the board of education met in committee to discuss the phase in plan for all students in the district.  As you know we began the phase in process with students in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Special Education and 5th grade last week.  Below is an outline of how we plan to bring back students in the upcoming weeks.

  • The optional return to face-to-face instruction for students in 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th grade on Monday March 8th.
  • The optional return to face-to-face instruction for students in 3rd, 4th, and 8th grade on Monday March 15th.
  •  Parents will be able to choose face-to-face instruction or remain in remote learning.
  • A survey has been sent out to this first group to gauge the number of students returning.  Other families will be able to participate in the survey when their child(s) grade is scheduled for return.
  • The district will be running an A/B model which allows for face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Friday. This will be for students coming back from 1st through 8th grade.
    • Students slotted in the “A” model will attend school on Monday and Tuesday and will have remote learning on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
    •  Students slotted in the “B” model will have remote learning on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and will attend school on Thursday and Friday.
    • A family handbook will be accessible for more information on our website.
    • The district has included guidance on safety protocols to help with the transition on our website.

Upcoming Dates:

March 1st – No school for students (Casimir Pulaski Day)

March 19 – Early release for students (WF 11:30am, NP 11:15am)

March 22nd – 26th – Spring Break

  • Travel Considerations Over Spring Break
  • Please follow the 3 W’s

If you have any questions regarding the phase in process, please contact your building principal.

As always, it’s important we continue to work together and support our students, families, and staff. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey McCartney
